Local product and tasting

In the hilly landscape of Vinci, the main protagonists of agri-food production are wine and extra virgin olive oil — ancient fruits that are also symbols of Tuscany.
The largely unspoiled agricultural landscape is characterized b.y vineyards growing on the gentler, lower hills and olive groves stretching across the higher slopes.

The grape varieties used in the area are Sangiovese, Canaiolo, and Malvasia Nera, which are used to produce the prestigious Chianti Montalbano D.O.C.G. red wine. For white grape varieties, Trebbiano and Malvasia Bianca are used to produce Bianco IGT Toscana.
The harvest of ripe grapes takes place from mid-September to mid-October.

The olive groves covering the hills of Montalbano, which produce the excellent I.G.P. extra virgin olive oil, mainly consist of Moraiolo and Leccino olive varieties.
The different types of olives and their varying stages of ripeness at the time of harvest give this oil a distinctive blend of flavors.
The olives are still mostly harvested by hand, with the harvest taking place from November to January.
